SOLUTION -- WiMAX -- configuring an NTP server (time synchronisation)

Its important for your modem to be "in sync" time-wise with the Vivid network. When a modem authenticates with the network at the start of a session, a certificate is issued to the modem by an authentication server. If the date/time in the modem is too different from the date/time of the authentication server, the certificate's date/time range may not match the modem's date/time, and this can cause the certificate to be rejected by the modem ... if that happens, you cannot get a connection.

To ensure that this is never a problem, you can configure your modem to get the current date/time on a regular basis from a public Network Time Protocol (NTP) server. In the Home Gateway modem, this NTP server setting can be found in the web interface (usually http://192.168.1.1) at:

Personalization, Date, NTP Server ...

Tick the box: Enable NTP Server

Enter the following NTP server name: AU.POOL.NTP.ORG

Click the Apply button to save your settings. Note that this setting may not take effect until after the modem is turned OFF and ON again.
