FAQ -- WiMAX -- Dynamic DNS (DDNS) and Home Gateway

Thanks for the following goes to forums user Unclebeavz (thank you!):

To configure your Home Gateway modem to take advantage of Dynamic DNS (DDNS) via the dyndns.org service, set up as follows:

STEP 1: create a DynDNS user account (refer: www.dyndns.org)

STEP 2: configure your Home Gateway modem as follows:

DDNS = Enabled
Service provider = DynDNS.org (from drop down list)
Service type = Dynamic
Hostname = some_name (e.g. "Home" if home.dyndns.com is your chosen DNS record)
--> note that Hostname should not be more than 10 characters long, due to a restriction in the firmware of the Home Gateway
Domain Name = dyndns.org
Username = your DynDNS username
Password = your DynDNS password

Apply these settings, then restart your Home Gateway.

STEP 3: login to the DynDNS website and verify the service log shows Good and has been updated with your Home Gateway's public IP address.

NOTE: be careful with restarting the Home Gateway a lot, as this may result in "nochg" which will get your account banned for abuse if continually you are sending update requests.
