SOLUTION -- WiMAX -- forward ports with Home Gateway

CREATING A FORWARDING RULE

(1) login to the web interface of your Home Gateway using administrator credentials (usually: admin / admin123)

(2) go to Networking, Forwarding area

(3) click the Insert button

(4) enter the details of the forwarding rule as follows:
* tick the Enable box
* enter a descriptive Name for your rule (e.g. uTorrent, or XBOX-port123, or whatever)
* select the right protocol, either TCP or UDP (if in doubt, choose TCP/UDP and forward both!)
* enter the beginning and ending WAN (Internet) port range numbers ... if forwarding just a single port, enter the same number twice under Begin and End
* enter the beginning and ending LAN (local network) port range numbers ... if forwarding just a single port, enter the same number twice under Begin and End
* enter the IP Address of the computer which will receive the forwarded traffic under the Server IP field

(5) click the Apply button to save your new rule

(6) click the Reboot button (round button in top right of screen, looks like a power button)

TESTING YOUR FORWARDING RULES

There are lots of different port forwarding test sites on the 'Net. One commonly used one is:

TROUBLESHOOTING SUGGESTIONS

* is there a process actually listening on that port on the computer in question? Port forwarding only directs the Internet traffic to an existing server process, but if that server isn't listening on that port, then the process won't work. Consider using 'netstat -a | more' from the command line to list all ports on your PC

* is a firewall blocking traffic on that port on the PC in question?
