IMPORTANT -- closure of old WiMAX network (from Sun 6 AUG)

Hi all,

Just a reminder to all those still using the old WiMAX modems and network, its demise is finally upon us and the WiMAX network will be closing down this weekend, from late SUN 6 AUG into early MON 7 AUG approximately.

Hopefully you've already made prior arrangements for a new service, either the LTE modems and network from vividwireless (on the Optus network), or some other ISP.

Some time next week I will be archiving (hiding) the WiMAX forums (FAQs and Technical Support).

Kind regards,
Steve

Hi, I don't have wifi in my place since Sunday and I am wondering which area this closure is affecting. I live in Sydney.

Could you help me please?

Thank you,

Paula

Hi Paula, This was the last part of the Wimax network nationally to be shut down, and affected customers in Perth only.

You would be on the LTE Network that replaced the Wimax Network. Have you reported the problem to Vividwireless Tech Support?

If not, I would suggest speaking with them in case they are not aware of any problems in your area.

What Suburb/Postcode in Sydney are you?

Now that the WiMAX modems are no longer fit for any purpose, what should I do with the retired box?
I hate wasting things and hope there is a place where they can be recycled - or am I thinking too "green"?

Hi Pixel, Yes you are correct, the Wimax modems have no use now.

It is best and responsible to dispose of using E-waste, where they can be recycled. If there is no recycling depot near you, contact your local council, as they normally have special recycling days including E-waste.
