Any news on LTE?

I've been pretty happy with my Vivid Experience thus far getting speeds of around 13Mbps. My only slight issue has been that ping response is predictably slower than adsl/cable connections. I usually manage pings of below 100 however rarely below 60. I understand that LTE should offer improvements in this area. The option of a lined connection has recently become available to me and I was wondering whether LTE is on the horizon as it has been mentioned now for over a year.

Thanks in advance Frosty or anybody else :)

Be nice if they finally went to LTE, this would shut alot of people up, and they would certainly revolutionise 4G in Australia.
Telstras LTE is great, but the plans are shit.

Now that we are in the new year I might drop vivid an email and ask about LTE. I doubt that they will tell me anything that I can reveal publicly though. Commercial-in-confidence is usually what I am told...

Thanks Frosty. There were a tonne of news articles in the 1st half of 2011 stating that Vivid planned on rolling out LTE by end of 2011. However during the 2nd half of 2011 I've hardly read a thing on the planned rollout and was wondering whether the previous plans had fell through.

I did get a reply back. As I suspected, there was not a lot of new info (beyond what had already been disclosed) and nothing that I can really disclose publicly.

It might be helpful though if I point out that the federal government apparently has not finalised exactly what spectrum is to be available at what price to who yet, so that is probably the main factor.

There is an interesting Whirlpool article here though:

Could be a very positive bit of news. Fingers crossed.
