Home Gateway Pricing

Come on Vivid. There is no way that any home router in today's market is worth $300. I'm currently using a dongle on a laptop with windows ICS and a router. This process is frustrating but the price of the home gateway is ridiculous.

I've been a customer from the beginning and am forking out alot of money to vivd. Just before it is suggested. No I do not want to be in a locked in contract and no i dont want to use the wifi hotspot.

All i want is a fair price for a router that has been on the market for some time now. Seems reasonable to me.

Might be a good idea to pass that info back to Vivid as a feedback via their main website? Probably best if it comes direct from you, rather than via me?!

I've been a customer from the beginning and have been on the unlimited plan.

I'm not in a position to go on a contract and am not interested in the vivify product.

I intend to continue with vivid but my current setup and the cost of the router is just far too high.

The home gateway has only two Ethernet ports and limited Wifi.. is it really still worth $300? I've been looking for a second hand one with no luck.. :(

Help me out vivid :)

Got instructed to call support. They didn't really help at all. Got told that was the price unless you sign up for 1 year or 2 years. They did mention there might be a new router coming soon. Could this maybe be to support new network software (LTE). There no way i can tell if my speeds would increase with the home gateway so its not worth the risk. Looks like im stuck where i am.

Its only a matter of time before other router makers release wimax or LTE routers that i can get my hands on.. guess ill get one of those if vivid cant offer an affordable device for there own network.. sigh

Re: the new router possibly being for an LTE rollout ... not a certainty, but I think that's a reasonable guess. Might be firmware-upgradeable to LTE? Might be best to wait-n-see.

EEK I hope it is however I highly doubt it, different technologies arent they?

I would be rather unhappy just having spent $129 on the ViVifi if only to find it is brand new but not compatible with a shiny new network Vivid was releasing :(
