signal strength indicator

You appear to have a good product worthy of supporting but it is extremely location critical.

Against this background would it not be preferable to measure the signal strength on site before buying into Vivid?
I'm considering signing up to Vivid but have no way of testing the signal strength. Although the online search showed me well within the Vivid wifi footprint my Samsung GALAXY Note does not pick anything up for Vivid when I search for wifi signals.

Something as simple as picking up the wifi signal on a smart phone could solve a lot of issues up front.
Just an idea

Hi Ironman,
I think this is the same issue as was in your other post. The vividwireless service (which connects their modems to the vividwireless network and the Internet) is WiMAX, not WiFi, so that's why it won't be 'seen' on a mobile phone and also could not be visible to a mobile phone app of any kind.
The best indicator available of WiMAX coverage are the maps on the vividwireless website. They're not perfect, but lets say "reasonably accurate".
Perhaps you could find someone who has a vivid modem already and then take it to your house to see what the signal strength and quality is like?
Cheers,
Steve
