Drop outs in Merrylands Area

The internet connection has been experiencing a lot of drop outs since the night of 22/12/2016. it drops out every 1-3 minutes, stays no connection to internet at all for about 1 minute, then comes back up, then drops out again.

Have rebooted the router serveral times, change WIFI password make sure no one else is using the internet, moved the router to a different room, the issue persists.

Both my 2 PCs and tablet having the same issue and drop out at the same times.

What is happening? My location is Merrylands NSW.

I just checked the Optus Service Status website, and there is a tower out near the corner of Treves St & McFarlane St, that is affecting emails and internet. Sounds like that this is the tower that you might be connecting to. Unfortunately, the problem may concern Optus only, but at the same time affecting Vividwireless as the tower is shared.

There are 4 other towers around the tower above, and maybe by moving the modem (if you can) you might connect to a good tower. The closest to the tower in question is near the intersection of Merrylands Rd & Railway Terrace.

Click on this link and type in your suburb.

Click on the tower icon to see the latest status on that tower.

Take a note of the Cell Id in the modems interface, and that will change if you connect to a different tower.

Post back and let us know what happened.

I tried moving the router around but could not get it to connect to a different tower. Anything else I can do?

I was trying to avoid having you contact Tech Support, by hopefully connecting to a different tower. So at this point, I suggest you contact Tech Support and see if they can do something or at least make them aware of your problem.
