Modem

G'day

Is it best to leave the modem switched on continually or is it best to switch it off when you are not going to be using it for a few hours - eg overnight -- I am talking about home use with a medium usage. I hope this is not too much of a mundane question.

Not a mundane question at all. I turn my modem off overnight between 11pm and 5.30am. I have other devices that connect to the modem, so it saves the battery life in those devices as there is no Wi-Fi connection to them for auto email downloads and stuff like that.

There is a Firmware update coming (no date yet), and in that case you should leave it on overnight for updating the firmware on the modem, as you won't know when it is going to happen.

I leave my LTE modem on permanently; I have a daughter who works shift hours and is often up and about in the middle of the night. The modem is in a spot which doesn't get direct sunlight, so that stops it getting too hot.

@Frosty, Any news on that Firmware update? It's almost December...

I really do hope vividwireless continues in developing the LTE modem firmware over time and starts to push regular updates to optimise performance and hopefully include new features.

I know it was in testing a little while back.
Perhaps they have found some issues with it?
I'll ask for an update.
