Any firmware updates for gateway?

Any firmware updates for gateway?

Hardware model: WIXFMR-107
Firmware version: 2.8.8-1.4.4
Firmware creation date: Wed Sep 08 21:18:20 2010
Frequency range: 2303000KHz~2399500KHz

Getting incredibly slow speeds & times when the internet just stops responding. Getting 60kb down & 30kb up atm :(

Generally have never exceeded 300kb/200kb in the past year & the average is 100kb/50kb.

WiMAX Signal Strength is two bars from the top & I have disabled the wireless gateway in the modem, using a TP-Link wireless router for that via lan connection. Vivid wireless techs pointed the modem to a tower that had less clients around a year a go & unofficially informed that the Tapping area has maxed out its back hall on most towers & there are no plans to upgrade.

Any advice appreciated!

I'm even having issues with voip calls dropping out or one way voice, so I can hear them but they can't hear me or the phone will just be engaged when trying to dial out. Really frustrating.

Hi GT44,
That is the current firmware, so no updates are available.
You might need to have a quick chat again to Support, to see whether anything has changed in your area. e.g. a fault, or maybe your modem has reverted back to connecting to a super busy tower? When the techs transfer you to a different tower, my understanding is that this is a temporary change, not permanent.
To make it permanent, you can reconfigure your modem to use a particular tower that you like. Typically this would be one that the modem thinks is Worse, but in practice you know it works Better.
Drop me an email and I can send you the instructions (

I'm having the same model and similar problems, albeit not quite as extreme as GT44. Signal strength is steady at 3 green lights, but the speed is about 20% of what it used to be. Video is buffering forever, making catchup TV unpalatable.
During the past 2-3 weeks, the Internet connection has now started to drop out altogether, and I have to reboot the gateway before my devices can connect.
I have a maximum of 4 devices connected: two desktop PCs running Windows 10, an android htc desire, and - connected by Ethernet cable - a Vulkano slingbox.
The Vulkano is normally turned off; it's only powered on when I want to watch a live broadcast, be it a show or AFL game. I have also switched the htc off at times to see if it makes a difference. It doesn't.

Hi Pixel,
When was the last time you went through the "move the modem around" process to optimise the signal?
You might also want to consider whether forcing your modem to use a tower with a worse signal (but better actual throughput) might help. Send me an email if you want to try that.

Thanks Frosty,
My gateway has always been in the same position it's now: In front of a window with line-of-sight to the nearest tower. I had to reboot it again this morning, but at least am now getting full speed. (Last night it was below 20%)
Signal strength should be no problem either as all 3 green lights are lit on the gateway, and when I logon to it, the status bar is one off the top.
Is there any way I can find out to which tower I'm actually connected?

PS: Have emailed you.
Earlier this week, I have also lodged an incident report about it Reference #160921-001566

It should show up as a change in the BSID value (BaseStation ID). What probably happens is that:
(1) your particular tower has a fault
(2) modem switches to another tower (worse signal and throughput)
(3) fault is resolved
(4) modem should eventually switch back

If you got stuck between steps (2) and (3) a few days ago, and then again between (3) and (4) after fault was fixed, then turning the modem off and on would make it attempt to re-acquire a network connection and it would choose its best option.
