Slow Speed in Darlinghurst, NSW - Strong Signal

Hi,

New user here with a WiMAX home gateway.

WiMAX Stats:

System Status
Frequency: 2358000
Bandwidth: 10000
BSID: f7:e4:11:07:d5:20
Dev State: Connected
Mac State: Normal
Uptime: 16922

Physical Status
RSSI: -56.07dBm
CINR: 38.52/33.38(R3/R1)dB
TX power: -5dBm

Speedtest.net has been giving me download speeds of 1.4 and upload of 1.3

When i began using the device earlier this week my speeds were at around 5/1

From what i can tell i have a great signal so my speeds should be much higher

Any idea if there is an outage in Sydney? Its been abysmally slow since thursday

Regards,
Matt

Hi Matt, yes you have a good signal, but it might be too good that it is too strong and the signal may be becoming distorted.

Your CINR: 38.52/33.38(R3/R1)dB should be no greater than 30 dB.
So what you need to do is to reduce the CINR-R3 to around 30dB or just less, whilst keeping the gap of the R1 to around 4 or 5. Just micro-rotations may do that whilst monitoring or to try a different location for the modem.

Have a read of this FAQ on RSSI & CINR values :
