FAQ -- LTE modem and KRACK vulnerability (October 2017)

Are the vividwireless LTE modems (Huawei B315s-607) vulnerable to the KRACK WiFi exploit which targets the WPA2 protocol?

No, so there is no new firmware being released specifically to target this vulnerability.

According to information provided by Huawei, the B315s modem only operates in Access Point mode. It is always a WiFi Server and never a WiFi Client. The KRACK exploit only targets WiFi clients, therefore there is no risk specifically to the modem from KRACK.

Customers definitely should update their devices (computers, phones, etc) which use WiFi with any appropriate software updates as these are made available by their device manufacturer.

Microsoft released patches for Windows 7, 8 and 10 computers in October 2017.

Apple also started releasing patches for iPhones from November 2017 onwards, however I believe these will only be available for recent iPhone models.
