FAQ -- why am I only getting 5Mbps download?

QUESTION:

I thought I should be getting 12/1 or maybe 10/1 but I ran a speed test and it shows only 5/1. Why am I only getting 5Mbps download?

ANSWER:

There are areas where vividwireless provides coverage in in the 2300Mhz (2.3GHz) band and these areas are most notably in the capital cities (e.g. Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, etc).

But there are also areas where the 2300MHz band is not available. e.g. the Gold Coast.

In those areas, depending on the plan that you are on (i.e. this is not available on the Unlimited plan), you may be able to get coverage from different bands, however the speed with be limited in those cases to 5Mbps (5/1).

To check which band your modem is using, go to the modem management interface (usually: http://192.168.0.1/html/home.html) and login with UserID 'admin' and Password 'admin'.

Go to the Settings Tab and select Dial-up icon > Network Settings.

If you are on the 2300MHz Spectrum, it will display "2300MHz only" which means up to 12Mbps (12/1).

If not it will display "All Bands" which will indicate up to 5Mbps (5/1).
