Email addresses

Any plans to have email addresses?

Just a short bit of history with regards to email addresses. Initially, a wireless network entity was created called Unwired, that was owned by the Seven Network Organisation, that utilised the Optus 3G network. Under Unwired, customers could have a email address @unwired.comau.

Then as wireless technology advancement grew 4G, the entity of Vividwireless was born, that became Unwired's successor. The Unwired network was shutdown including the email addresses. Vividwireless was still owned by the Seven Network Organisation. But it was decided at the creation of Vividwireless, that there would be no Vivdwireless email addresses.

Optus bought Vividwireless, and Vividwireless still remained a separate entity now under Optus using LTE technology, where it is to day.

Both Frosty and Myself have been with both Unwired and Vividwireless.

Thanks ozzcaddy. Reason I asked is that in a recent survey from Vividwireless there was a response option that implied they would consider it if there was enough support, so I was wondering if there were any plans to change things. Could easily provide Optusnet accounts for example.

I haven't heard anything mentioned, however if it has been flagged in a survey then they must be considering whether there is sufficient interest in the idea. Back in the 90's and 00's most ISPs offered email. But the rise of Hotmail, Gmail and others had a big impact, enabling people to move ISP without losing their email address.
