Five city 4G expansion? When Exactly?

Can an official from VW please give some info as to when they're likely to complete the five city expansion as they originally mentioned back in Feb 2010.

I'm in one of the areas which they intend to cover with the expansion, so I'm keen to know when they intend to roll out base stations in BNE, CAN and ADL!!

Also, is there any chance you're going to expand the Sydney and Melbourne coverage at all? I have friends in North Sydney who would love this service but can't get it! Melbourne's coverage isn't much better.

Your best bet would be to email or call them direct.
Because people who work for vivid don't come on here often only to check up on stuff.
Maybe Stephen could follow up on this as he has direct contacts with vivid

The question about the MEL expansion is something that directly affects me, so I've been meaning to ask that myself. I'll see what I can find out.

@Bruce Smith @oOJaxxOo we are delighted with the level of interest in vividwireless network and services in other cities outside of Perth, Sydney and Melbourne. Site construction is almost complete in Adelaide, Brisbane and Canberra. Make sure you register your details so we can contact you in the future at Stay tuned for further updates!

Hi All,

Any update on when these sites are going live? Sick of having to use 3G and about to order ADSL if it's going to be ages till it goes live.

I notice that there are 6 sites in Brisbane and 5 sites in Canberra. Interesting!

So hopefully it's getting close :-)

I've not heard anything further since I enquired in November. They're keeping their cards fairly close to their chest at the moment.

Bruce_Smith wrote 8 years ago

They must keep things close to their chest because I'm surprised they didn't tell you that Adelaide and Canberra have gone live!?

Where the is Brisbane's coverage? Still trying to build those 6 base stations?

Frosty-MODERATOR wrote 8 years ago

Brisbane can't be that far behind I suppose. Whilst I have very good contacts at Vivid, I'm not staff, so I usually wouldn't be copied in on internal communications. Occasionally if there's a big change coming they may think of me and give me a heads up.

Good to see things expanding gradually to all the CBDs. That makes it more viable as a business solution for interstate travellers. I suspect they are severely restricted by lack of investment capital though.

Bruce_Smith wrote 8 years ago

I would of thought they'd try and go live in Brisbane before University resumed. Obviously not!

Bruce_Smith wrote 8 years ago

Looks like they've failed to expand to all six major capital cities by the end of March.

What has gone wrong in Brisbane?

Frosty-MODERATOR wrote 8 years ago

I'll ask.

Any word regarding Brisbane?

Frosty-MODERATOR wrote 8 years ago

Not even a whisper ...

Bruce_Smith wrote 7 years ago

That's disappointing that they aren't more forthcoming with you Stephen.

It looks like they have set live limited coverage in Brisbane now:

Pity you're forced to get the Tower. I just want a cheap USB stick - I live near a base station.

With most of the "commercially sensitive" information, I get to find out things along with the general public, though occasionally I will get a heads up email 24-48 hours ahead of the announcement. This has also been the case with other publicly-listed ISPs I've done work for. Good to see that they've got Brisbane on the map though! It will be interesting to watch for gradual expansion of their footprint.

Any clue as to when we can expect more coverage in Sydney?

Frosty-MODERATOR wrote 7 years ago

Sorry, no, haven't heard anything about that ... best I can suggest is to keep track of vivid's press releases, as it will probably be announced formally via that sort of mechanism if any substantial network growth is planned.
