Suggestion: second device on Unlimited plan

Hi Guys,
I guess this is really me raising an idea, I am on the unlimited plan (loving it).

What I would *adore*, is the ability to add say for $10 a month the ability to add one more device to my plan.

I realise the idea behind this is so that people do not exploit and absolutely hammer the network however my theory is this.

For $10 a month allow people to add one more device (be it the wifi soap bar or laptop dongle) and permit them to only use say 20GB (or some predefined amount) through that secondary device so that people cannot exploit the unlimited plan.

For example I have my iPad (with a 3G dongle) and laptop as well which I take on the road it would be OUTSTANDING to be able to get even say 10Gb that I could use while on the road between these two (obviously after forking out for the additional device).

A second device should be allowed if the first device is not in use.

Interesting ideas. I'll move this into the Product Development forum and label it as a "Suggestion:" thread.

@BOB - I guess that could work but in the case of my home gateway I need it on all the time for Tivo to update and remote access into my home computer. Hence why I thought a restricted download limit on the second device.

@Stephen - thank you greatly ;)

Is this section of the forum something that upper management checks regularly i.e. will they see our suggestions and such?

Frosty-MODERATOR wrote 8 years ago

I wouldn't say "regularly" ... I would expect them to check it "from time to time" as they are researching ideas for product development (such as ideas for plans and so on).

Plus I will draw it to their attention occasionally, just in case they forget it is here!

Hi Stephen thanks for the honest response :) stuart

I just got an email from Vivid ... letting me know that the forums here are regularly visited by management, and that issues raised here are regularly reviewed by them.

So I stand corrected! =8^)

OOOH hehe BUSTEDDD!!! LOL hey that just goes to show that do see everrrrrrrything *waves hello to the Management team*

Now that is what I call a speedy response from them (just goes to show the good customer service). Now I will just keep my fingers crossed that in the future my idea might come to fruition *looks pleadingly at the management team*

I also want this idea to be implemented.

I'm really hoping they do. I'm hoping a new tower eventually comes out that allows for external antennas.

Hate to bump an old thread (or do I *grins*).

This has now been enabled /dances. If you get a phone bundle (+$10 a month) then you can add a second device (the new ViviFi for example) for another $10 a month.

Unfortunately I also had to absorb the $4 a month as I was on the legacy $75 a month.

But now for $24 a month more (which isn't *ALL* that bad) I have a second device.

Words of warning thus far however, I am on the edge of network range, I get 95% signal strength with my home gateway at home but unless I stick the ViViFi device to the window (with blutac) I don't get any signal and even then it is only moderate.

But, I aim to use it mostly around the CBD so I will come back with my findings in the near future).
